I recently took a vacation. I put an orange piece of string on my black suitcase so that I could distinguish it from all the other identical looking bags whirling around the luggage carousel. When I arrived at the carousel, I discovered that ninety percent of the black bags moving past me had an orange string or ribbon dangling from a handle. What a profound personal shock it was. I’m just like everyone else.

I was surprised by some of the items that are sold at airports. Sure, everyone forgets toiletries or needs a book or magazine for the journey, but it seems there must be a large contingent of travelers who use the airport as a shopping destination. There’s practically a whole mall at the airport in Miami. If I need some electronics or a suit, I’m not thinking, why don’t I take a drive out to the airport and see if I can find something on sale. Apparently there are travelers with a different purchasing philosophy, or perhaps they possess an idle-time shopping addiction, or maybe they just scoot out the door in a semi-conscious rush to get to the airport and have little choice but to buy a Brooks Brothers suit during their layover.

Anyway, on my next trip, I’m tying a bright green piece of string onto my luggage. Please don’t try to copy me.

I just took a trip with a wonderful woman – the GPS gal. She was there beside me the whole way, and her only purpose was to help me get where I wanted to go. If I made a mistake, she patiently recalculated and led me to my destination.

I’m falling in love with the GPS gal. Sure, her speech is a little fragmented, but she is there for me always. My heart palpitates just thinking about her. Together we traveled hundreds of miles, through urban confusion and twisting mountain roads, and not once did she utter an unpleasant word. How sweet it is to be with a woman who, no matter how often I stray off course, has the patience to generously and calmly encourage me back to my desired path.

Now, if I can get her to patiently and calmly direct my fellow travelers to my online store, Creations by donnierocky, then indeed we have a match made in heaven.
